Under $80
What to expect: neighbourhood salons and barbers, more than a third of them in the east. Only 4 of the 38 salons in this range print a long-hair price, so send a photo and ask what yours will cost. A good fit for one-shade colour or covering greys.

Cheaper and pricier areas
- Cheapest: Bedok, around $60. Next come Little India and Tampines, around $80 to $90.

4 things that change your bill
- Hair length. The “from” price is for short hair. Long hair is usually about $50 more, so quote your length when you book.
- Going lighter. Dark hair going light needs bleach first, which is often priced like a second full colour.
- The colour line. Organic, henna and ammonia-free colours usually sit a little higher than the standard range.
- “++” prices. “$98++” means GST, and sometimes a service charge, goes on top.
