Black Hair Salon
Black Hair Salon opened in 2000, and both co-founders still take clients. Colour keeps most of the chairs busy, from root touch-ups to bleached corals, and there's a head spa as well. Bookings go through WhatsApp or a phone call. If you're after a quick budget trim, this isn't the place.
Come here if
- You want a bold colour but aren't sure which shade would work on you
- Another salon left your hair damaged or brassy
- You're bringing a child along for a proper cut
Maybe not if
- You're after a quick budget trim
- You'd rather book online than message the salon

What guests come here for
What people say
You get what you asked for
A loose idea or a photo is enough for them to give you the cut you meant, down to wispy side pieces that sit right when you tie your hair up.
They pick the colour to suit your skin tone, and they'll even out brassy yellow patches left by old bleach.
Regulars who stayed
People who first came in the salon's Bencoolen Street days still book, and many now bring their kids to the same stylist.
They explain what they are doing
Before they dye permed or bleached hair, they tell you how much curl you might lose and how well the colour will show.
Ask for a perm your hair can't take and they'll suggest a straightening with soft curled ends instead.
Patient, unhurried staff
The last slot of the day gets the same care, and a stylist will stay back to redo a colour that came out too light.
No hard sell
A treatment or product comes up only for a problem you raise, and nobody lectures you about how dry your hair is.
Gentle enough to doze off
In the head spa they work down to your neck, shoulders and hands, then tuck a warm blanket over you while a cool product goes on your scalp, which is when you may start to feel sleepy.
A plain haircut often comes with a head massage at the wash.

Approximate prices from the salon's published menu, checked October 2026. Prices vary by stylist, hair length and products, so confirm with the salon before booking. $ to $$$ compares this salon's starting prices with other Singapore salons' published menus for the same treatments: $ is the most affordable quarter, $$$ the priciest. Each menu heading rates its section's lowest full-service price; the price level at the top combines them, so it can sit between the headings. See their full price list ↗
